My APCD Designs

Here i will update you with the latest news on courses that i have been involved directly in a design function. In comparison to many designers, I admit to really only having more limited skills with the apcd, and therefore often rely on other designers to assist in my work, so i can end up as much a project manager as a designer. However i think the results so far have been well worth the trouble, usually bringing some older courses back to life and extending their playability. These are summarised below:

Pebble Beach Classic Edition

This is the course that i have spent most hours of input into over the years, and to be honest i feel stands pretty well alongside some of the better courses around. I was involved in the original project called Pebble Beach 1930’s with Les Wellard before undertaking a couple of further updates over the years. The final one being a comprehensive replant by myself and adding some neat new 2003 quality textures. Ross Mackenzie has been outstanding in completing texture blending work begun by Joel Geysen. I am pleased with the final results and hope people still give it a spin now and again. Final release version - December 2004.

TPC @ The Woodlands

Originally released by Alan Price in 2001, this update begun in 2003 with a retexture and general replant by myself. Ross MacKenzie then teamed up with me to complete full texture blending and some general smoothing over of the terrain for a release in May 2005. I also added full tournament crowds too to make it more realistic and added in hole previews. The results do look great and i thank Ross for his help in making this course as good as it has now become, and extending the life of this once famous PGA Tour venue. Final release version - May 2005. 

Woodbridge (Old Course)

One of the greatest early links course designs in the mould of Muirfield and Royal St George’s. A simple look, but superbly executed, and one this still inspires me today. Being one of the closest in feel to an Open venue i felt it required a tournament option - so i added one in 2004. Now finally i have worked out how to remove the steel grass stalks in the planting and am pleased to submit a final update called Woodbridge (Old Course). It remains one of my favourite courses, especially now that it is fixed. Final release version - July 2006.
