| After their narrow win in
2006 the American team has remained
relatively solid during the main tour
season. However late withdrawals from
regular players Jay Hansen and Alan
Riddle may have shaken up their
confidence late on in 2007 going into the
Cup. There is little doubt that the World
team have lost a number of important
players since last year, including Paul
Smith, Robert Bjornsson, Andy Hope and
the surprise late withdrawal this year of
Dave Gale may prove most significant.
They will however be boosted by newcomer
Stian de Jager and will benefit by
improvements shown to the form of Ron
Kwestroo and Robert Dickerson. On
American soil the USA team may have the
home advantage but as the teams start to
shape up it is looking like this years
title could go either way. |

 |

|
Don
Miettinen Captain of
the World Team he brings his own blend of
solid, consistent play and flashes of
brilliance to the blue team, winning all
three of his pairs games in 2006. Enjoys
the cut and thrust of Ryder Cup head to
head and will be desperate to get into
the action and lead by example.
|

|
Doug
Casker Doug has become
the unofficial director of the tour this
year and deservedly earns the USA
Captaincy. He's always been a good
player, and raises his game in head to
head matchplay obtaining 2 points in the
event last year. Won't leave any stone
unturned in his preparation for the
event.

|
|
|

|
Ken
Nicholls Knicknamed
affectionally last year as 'pit bull' he
remains a consistant winner on the tour
with four tour victories this year
including The Masters major championship.
In last years cup he had two wins and
perhaps surprisingly two defeats. He is
no doubt a key player for the World team
and his performance could be
inspirational.
|

|
Charlie
Roberts The backbone of
the American team. In 2006 and on his cup
debut he won all four matches and took
the most valuable player award for the
team. With five tour victories already
this year it is hard to see him dropping
any points in this years cup either. A
potential cup winning performance is
likely.
|
| |
|
|
|

|
Ron
Kwestroo Did not make
the team last year, but a switch of swing
styles mid season has catapulted him to
the very top of the tour rankings. Winner
of this year's US Open he becomes another
important player within the World team
and his captain will certainly be looking
for points from him. Nerves could hold
the key to his performance in the cup.
|

|
Charles
Belida Another
experienced tour player, and whilst he
hasnt quite managed a tour win in 2007
his quietly unassuming nature makes him a
perfect partner for the pairs. Rarely
making mistakes, he is one of the best
players on tour and his win over Dave
Gale last year was the biggest shock of
the event. He is another key member of
the team.
|
| |
|
|
|

|
Stian de
Jager Newcomer to the
tour this year he has already stamped his
mark on it by winning the German Open.
Still becoming familiar with his new
found stardom he will need the
experienced players around him to help
him with the intense Ryder Cup atmosphere
as a rookie. If the Captain can help him
settle quick, he could be a potential cup
winner for the team.
|

|
Jim
Roberts An American
debutant for 2007 on the team, his early
season form on tour was particularly
impressive winning the Kapalua
Invitational. He is playing well at the
moment and will shortly be ranked within
the top 5 on the tour. If he copes well
with the cup pressure he is likely to do
some damage to the World team.
|
| |
|
|
|

|
Robert
Dickerson In last
year's cup Robert was a wildcard choice
who impressively picked up two points and
notably beat Melvin Henry in the singles.
On tour this year he was another player
who has switched swing styles with great
success, winning the Stableford near the
season end. A man on form he could be an
important asset for his captain.
|

|
Neil
Segotta Neil did a
great job captaining the losing American
side in 2005 but with the pressures of
captaincy off in 2006 he scored an
impressive three points, and is now
safely ranked inside the top ten players
on the tour. He will definately be a hard
player to beat this year in matchplay.
|
| |
|
|
|

|
David
Russell A regular on
the World team, he took the captaincy
last year and played well above his tour
form and with inspiration to win all his
four matches for his side, earning the
most valuable player award. Has
comfortably qualified for the team this
year he could be danger if he finds his
matchplay edge again.
|

|
Melvin
Henry A mixed season
for Melvin at times, he is very capable
of scoring low and sits just outside the
top ten on the ranking list. Experienced
in Ryder Cup matchplay he regularly
scores points for the American team
including two wins last year and 2007
should prove no exception.
|
| |
|
|
|

|
Ian
Roberti Ian has made
the cup team on merit this year after a
good season on the tour, peaking with a
top ten finish at the Canadian Open. He
may find it tough to take on some of the
top Americans head to head but should be
a solid and dependable partner for anyone
in the pairs matches.
|

|
Paul
Klodzen Played a superb
Ryder Cup in 2006 winning all three of
his games for a perfect performance. A
5th place in The Open was his best result
this year and has comfortably booked his
place on the team. Will be looking for
the same form he showed last year.
|
| |
|
|
|

|
Steve
Sullivan Another
British Powerstroke player emerges into
the team to fill the void left by Lee
Harris. Great news for Steve who has
played solid golf all year, peaking with
a couple of top 15 finishes late on in
the season. Has possibly saved his best
form until the most important time.
|

|
Randy
Short Making his Ryder
Cup debut last year it was a baptism of
fire for Randy, coming up against some
very in-form players. He will undoubtedly
have gained valuable experience in 2006
and is now back to deservedly retake his
place in the US team.
|
| |
|
|
|

|
Stefan
Sabellek The only
German representing the team this year
and with a strong finish to the season he
will be looking to carry this form into
his Ryder Cup debut. Paired with
experience players he could prove a
valuable points scorer for the World
team.
|

|
Bill
Moore A regular player
on the USA team and always plays his best
matches it seems online, as seen in his
strong finish at this years Open
championship. An amazing comeback in last
years singles saw him overcome Lee Harris
in what was a key turning point for the
Cup.
|
| |
|
|
|

|
Alan
Wilson A British player
and a relative latecomer to the 2007
season, but an improving trend of results
sees him gain a Ryder Cup place for the
first time. He could be danger following
his first top 10 finish in the recent
Stableford event and could be the trick
up Don's sleeve this year.
|

|
Jason
Klopotoski A relative
unknown on the tour as a newcomer in the
season. A series of good results though
was capped by a 5th place at the Tour
Championship which earnt him a place by
right in the team and will send shivers
into the heart of the World team.
|
| |
|
|
|

|
Andrew
Russell A regular tour
player, this is the first time Andrew has
made the team, and whilst he has not been
overly pleased with his consistency this
year, a fine display at The Open led to
better run of form late on. Generally
plays his best golf online so could
spring a surprise or two as the wildcard
choice.
|

|
Russ Van
Dommelen A regular
player throughout the 2007 season and
this deservedly gains a place on the US
team as the first wildcard pick. He will
need the support of his more experienced
team-mates, but will be certain to give
his all in the competition.
|
| |
|
|
|

|
Mike Hoag Another
newcomer to the tour and drafted in as
the wildcard choice for the Cup. Will
need to feed of the experience of his
fellow teamates but will undoubtedly
relish mixing it with the big tour
players over the coming weeks.
|

|
Gary
Pomeroy Gary will be
delighted to make the US team in his
debut season on tour. He is still
learning his way at the very top level of
the game and will need the calming
experience of the players around him as
he embarks on his first Ryder Cup.
